ANGEL BAND (Avalon Theatre) - Performing original compositions and a variety of blues and folk staples Angel Band is known for their all-out stage presence, signature bluesy Americana songs, superb back-up band and the vocals of leader and lyricist Nancy Josephson along with Kathleen Weber and Aly Paige. Voted one of the Top 10 Favorite Bands at this year's Bonnaroo Festival, Angel Band is clearly a group on the ascent.
ARTHOUSE LIVE MONOLOGUE AND DIALOGUE COMPETITION (Stoltz Listening Room / Avalon) - This 6th annual competition features a number of the community's finest actors performing their own choices of monologues and (new this year) dialogues - competing for cash prizes. Adult themes and language.
JIM REHAK (Academy Art Museum) - presents you! In just mere moments, artist Jim Rehak will sketch a caricature souvenir portrait for you … free with your First Night Talbot button.
"CASCADING CARLOS", Juggler (S. Harrison St. & in Waterfowl Festival Bldg.) - Carlos is not a clown or magician, he is a juggler; nonetheless he clowns around and has a lot of illusions in his juggling. Inside, you'll learn to juggle with him - it's great fun!
CRAB DROPS (S. Harrison St.) - "Midnight in the Mid-Atlantic" at 9pm, and the Maryland Crab Drop traditional countdown at midnight are so cool that they attract national attention each year. Dragon Wings puppeteers will lead the parading sea creatures and fish hats for both of these celebrations.
CRAFTS with Lori Yates (Waterfowl Festival Bldg.) - Make your own hat, wand or hand puppet to wear at the Crab Drop celebrations.
GOIN' MONKEY (Academy Art Museum) - Ellen Wile, Melanie and Ian Young present this fun, interactive musical experience for children of all ages - join the jumping'!
GOSPEL CHOIRS (Christ Church Sanctuary) - The joyful sounds of local gospel choirs are a First Night favorite. This year we present: Asbury Celebration Choir, Jackson Jubilee / New St. John Singers, and Union Baptist Mass Choir.
TIM HALL, Magician (Avalon Theatre) - Twice named "Magician of the Year", Tim Hall works as a full-time entertainer, magician, mind reader and speaker. He has performed for hundreds of companies and thousands of individuals around the country.
KEN & BRAD KOLODNER (Academy Art Museum) - Widely recognized as one of today's most accomplished hammered dulcimer artists and fine old-time fiddler, Ken is joined by his son Brad, who has developed a highly melodic style on the banjo. Their debut album "Otter Creek" recently became the second most played instrumental recording on the folk charts.
MERMAID "SIRENA" (Waterfowl Festival Bldg.) - This incredible and amazing giant puppet, created by Dragon Wings, will be there adding a touch of charm and magic to the evening's festivities. Meet her "up close and personal."
MID SHORE DANCE ACADEMY (Historical Society Auditorium) - A mixed program displaying a broad range of dance styles (ballet, tap, jazz, modern and hip hop) with pieces set to pop, contemporary and Broadway music by 10 dancers ages 9 to 17, instructed by Shari Smigo.
PHOTO BOOTH (Waterfowl Festival Bldg.) - Complimentary photo with your First Night Talbot button. This was a big hit last year - what a cool memento of the evening.
PONY BONES (Stoltz / Avalon) - Pony Bones is a new project from Easton/D.C. natives Shea Springer, Glenn Hanner and Sam Papke. Their songs are epic, heavily metaphorical narratives, all set to acoustic guitar and underscored by soaring cello compositions and minimalist percussion.
SUNNY ISLE BLUES BAND (Christ Church Parish Hall) - This delightful combination of talented local folk musicians features Sunny Bryan on harmonica, Chris Levey on bass, Mark Ingino & Rick Forrest on guitars playing in a "Coffee House" atmosphere with room to dance.
SWAMPCANDY (Historical Society Auditorium) - Making 2 appearances at the Easton Farmers Market this year, Swampcandy quickly became First Night's most requested band. Ruben Dobbs has teamed up with an incredible upright bass player / kick drummer, Joey Mitchell, to become a duo that has no lack of rhythm or stage presence! Swampcandy's Old School Stomp and Boogie sets create an eclectic mix of honestly-crafted songs.
TOMMY BUCKETS (S. Harrison St. & in Waterfowl Festival Bldg.) - A perpetual percussionist with personality! Inside, you can join in to play "up close and personal" rat-a-tat fun!
YOUNG FOLK (Christ Church Parish Hall) - Local music students have been invited to an informal open mic/jam along with adults - a chance to share and enjoy an inter-generational musical experience. Hosted by Rick Forrest and Trish Payne of St. Michaels Community Center.
